Immersive Therapies
Research and development of immersive technlogies to support mental health, psychosocial rehabilitation, cognitive functioning, and emotional well-being. This research area explores the use of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), 360º video, therapeutic virtual environments, and other immersive technologies as tools for assessment, intervention, training, rehabilitation, and health promotion. Through evidence-based and person-centred approaches, immersive experiences are designed to enhance engagement, emotional processing, self-awareness, learning, recovery, and quality of life across clinical, educational, and community settings.
Research focuses on the creation, validation, and implementation of innovative immersive interventions that facilitate behavioural change, emotional regulation, therapeutic engagement, and psychosocial inclusion, while contributing to the advancement of Digital Mental Health and next-generation rehabilitation practices.
